Well done everyone!
On Thursday we were lucky to have a visit from rapper, DJ and music producer DJ Shy Cookie - Alex. He worked with all the children in KS2 who took part in his rap workshops. They worked in groups to produce their own raps to share with their classes. It was great to hear from a musician in the field and the children really got a lot out of hearing how he began his career.
Key stage two had a fantastic day learning all about the Egyptians. They made artefacts, pretended to be an Ancient Egyptian royal family and performed a play!
Victory at Great Waltham! Well played boys...4-0
A huge well done to class Australia for their wonderful class assembly last week.
They showcased some of their work from this term and sang beautifully.
On the 15th & 16th of May the children worked with artists from Art Solutions and made some absolutely fabulous art displays.
We had a number of parent volunteers come and support on the days and many of you donated the requested supplies of newspapers, tubs and black sacks, so a group effort by everyone! The children worked hard with their buddy groups and have delivered the most amazing scenes from across the continents (which also happens to be their class names!)
We held an open evening for parents/carers to view the work and we hope you love the finished displays as much as we all do!
Well done to the KS1 cricket team who made it to the finals this week. They worked together fantastically together fielding and we saw some excellent batting skills. They came 5th out of 30 teams.
Thank you to all of you that came along for our Kings Coronation celebration picnic. It was so lovely to see lots of parents, grandparents & siblings come together.
The weather was on our side, and we managed to just avoid the rain showers.
Special mention to the kitchen team for the fabulous cake! And huge thank you to the parents that arrived early to help us put up the gazebos.
Last Friday our Reception children were joined by some parents for a road safety talk provided by Safer Essex Roads Partnership.
Our Year 5 children also listened to a short presentation followed by some practical roadside training.
We have attached a link to the early years road safety song below for those who are interested.
On Monday, Class Antarctica and Class Africa went on their school trip to Hedingham Castle.
The children had a tour of the castle, dressed up as knights, visited the castle dungeon and looked at the castle grounds.
The children were beautifully behaved and had lots of fun!
Well done to our Year 5/6 Netball team who competed in a tournament this week at Great Baddow High School.
The team had an enjoyable afternoon, they played determinedly and with great team spirit, winning 2 of their 6 matches, finishing 5th overall. Each match was 4 minutes each way and they had to change position, in the pre-set rotation pattern, at the end of each half and conclusion of each match. So lots of time on court for everyone and some good netball was played.
The results were as follows:
v New Hall A (the winners) | L 0 - 7 |
v St Michaels | W 2 - 0 |
v Moulsham | L 2 -1 |
v Our Lady Immaculate A | L 0 - 6 |
v Perryfields | W 1 -0 |
v Tyrrells | L 2 - 1 |
They gave a good account of themselves and as you can see had some close games.
Today we held our first iRock concert! Well done to all of our iRockers for their amazing performances.
The iRock bands have been rehearsing with Rich, the iRock band coach, for the past 5 weeks and have come on amazingly in that time. We look forward to the next concert!
