About Us
Great Waltham Church of England Primary School is a voluntary controlled school for children aged 4 to 11 years and is maintained by Essex County Council. Pupils come to the school from the local village community as well as from the neighbouring villages for example Pleshey, Howe Street, Broomfield and Little Waltham.
The school is sited within a conservation area and was built in 1865, it is situated within large grounds. The original school bell can still be seen from the school hall and our reception area holds photographs of the school and the children over the years.
Great Waltham C of E Primary School has achieved the awards of Enhanced National Healthy Schools, Sports ACTIVE mark, School Games Gold Award and the Financial Management in Schools Award. The school enjoys partnership links with Chelmer schools partnership, Chelmsford Teaching school alliance and Chelmsford Sports Partnership.
The school is governed by the Great Waltham C of E School Governing Body which consists of nine members, one Local Authority governor, one parent governor, one staff governor, three co-opted governors, one foundation PCC governor and the Headteacher.
