Identity and Diversity Pupil Summit: Growing Future Leaders
Lucy and Charis, from year 4, joined 11 other schools from the Chelmsford Diocese in a summit celebrating identity, diversity and growing future leaders. The day, which was held at Chelmsford Cathedral, was filled with hope, learning, listening, empowerment and music. We were so proud to be part of this.
On Wednesday 24th January we had our first session of 'Everyone Reading in Class'.
This is a new reading initiative to evoke a love of reading and sharing favourite stories with children in different classes.
The children spent time sharing books from our 'Top Ten Reads' and other favourite books.
Children from years 5 & 6 attended a workshop on Wednesday to learn all about the importance of staying safe online. They also looked at the importance of being kind to each other online and the impact this can have on school life.
For several years, we have been running our Hot Chocolate Friday reward for the children. Due to budget constraints, we have asked our local recruitment agency - Gold Education - to support this incentive.
We are delighted to announce that Gold Education Recruitment are supporting us for the Spring Term. The business owner of Gold Education, Mr Paul Yates, came along to present the hot chocolates and a certificate to the first winners of the term.
Mr Yates said he was very proud to have been asked and was delighted to support a cause that benefits the children.
Well done to Mrs Mixture and the kitchen team for a fantastic Christmas Dinner.
We enjoyed a lovely meal with festive music - the children were singing along and having great fun!
Thank you to the FOGWS for donating the tablecloths, napkins and Christmas crackers - the jokes went down a storm!
Thank you to everyone that attended the Christmas carol service. We hope it got you in the Christmas spirit!
Well done to the choir for their first public performance! They sounded beautiful and we look forward to hearing more from them.
Wow an amazing end to a very festive term at breakfast club! The children enjoyed a fabulous Christmas party with hot food and games. We purchased some new resources from the children's wish list and have definitely been getting in the Christmas spirit with crafting activities.
From everyone at the breakfast club, we wish you a wonderful Christmas and a happy new year. See you all in January.
Congratulations to the winners from each class in our annual Christmas hat making parade - a Great Waltham primary school tradition!
The children had lots of fantastic ideas for their hat designs. They then got the chance to parade their creations around the hall in front of the whole school and the judges. This year it was Miss Garvin and Miss Clydesdales' turn to judge! Each class had a winner and a runner up who were both awarded a certificate and a chocolate selection pack.
Thank you to FOGWS for donating the prizes.
Class North America were asked to re-tell the Christmas Story in a practical way. They spent time making props and scenery. They performed their stories to Class Europe and Class Asia.
A huge well done to classes Australia, Antarctica & Africa for a fantastic production of 'Boogie Woogie Nativity'
The children were all star performers and gave it their all on the stage! We are very proud of you all!
Well done to class Europe on a fantastic assembly today. We all enjoyed hearing what you have learnt over the last few months.
