Sports Week 2024
It’s been a busy week at GWPS!
On Monday it was martial arts day so the children took part in karate taster sessions – thank you to MF Essex for providing these. KS2 children also took part in the district field events. KS2 children performed well in the district athletics field events, winning the girls throwing and many other children being placed or finishing respectably in their events. Well done to all involved.
Tuesday’s theme was the Paris Olympics, where the children had a circuit of different Olympic sports to complete.
Mid-week was marked with sports day which was a real success. We were having such a good time that the KS2 afternoon event ran over time which meant we had to come to rather an abrupt end! We had a special sports day presentation today on the playground, when Leopards (the blue team) were crowned the overall winners.
We were so proud of how the children conducted themselves and demonstrated the ASPIRE values during sports day. There was a good balance between competitiveness and team work. Thank you for supporting the children and to FOGWS for providing refreshments (the hot drinks were definitely needed).
On Thursday, years 3 and 4 played bowls. Thank you to the volunteers from Falcon Bowls Club for providing their expert tuition. We have included a flyer with this e-mail about free sessions for children at the Falcoln bowls club.
We finished the week on Friday with the opportunity for the children to come to school in their favourite sports kit. It was great to talk to the children about all the different sporting activities they are involved in outside of school.
A huge thank you to Mrs Moore and all the staff and governors for organising and helping out this week.
Please click this link to see the summary of the winners from Wednesday. Well done to all these children. The teachers will start adding photos of the day on to Google Classroom next week.
Great Waltham Festival of Choirs
We were really pleased to be invited to take part in The Great Waltham Festival of Choirs. It was a wonderful showcase of musical talent and we are so proud of the school choir who sang beautifully on the night.
Have a lovely weekend.
